This is going to be our last post, our asian trip is soon finished, tomorrow I fly back to Spain and in about a week Markus is going back to Sweden.
The first day in Beijing, the 9th of June, we didn't visited so much, we went to see the Drum Tower, the Bell Tower and the Beijing traditional hutongs.
The 10th of June we started our visit to Beijing, we went to see the Summer Palace, the Emperor Qianlong in the 18th century marshalled 100.000 labourers to deepen and expand Kunming Lake. The Long Corredor is an elegant stretch of woodwork of 750 m with 8000 different paintings. A bit boat made of marble represent the Qing Dinasty.
Yesterday, 12th of June, we went to visit the Great Wall, it saids that for every meter of the Great Wall has died one worker, the Great Wall is more than 5000km long, make the math, you can choose different parts of it in depends of what do you wanna see and how many tourists do you wanna meet, so we decided for Simatai, where the wall it hasn't been renovated and it's not so much people,is 110 km from Beijing, we took a normal bus and then once we were in the nearest city Miyun we took a taxi to the wall, the taxi driver waited for us for 4 hours.
This part of the Great Wall was built during the reign of Ming dynasty emperor Hongwu, the 19 km section is an invigorating stretch of watchtowers, precarious plunges and scrambling ascents. We took a carcable and a small train to get to the wall, we walked over the wall for nearly 3 hours and we went back to the taxi walking.
For the evening we went to eat some dumplings.
Today was my last day as a tourist, we went to the Temple of Heaven and the Fobidden City. The Temple of Heaven has come to symbolise Beijing. Set in a walled 267 hectare park originally served as a vast stage for solemn rites performed by the Son of Heaven, The Round Altar and the Imperial Vault of Heaven was constructed in 1530, wrapped around the Imperial Vault Of Heaven just north of the altar is the Echo Wall.
The Forbidden City so called because it was off limits for 500 years is the largest and best-preserved cluster of ancient buildings in China. This place is enormous and thanks God Lars was with us so we could explain to us the secrets of it.
After a long walk in the Forbidden City we went to meet Eskil and some other people and we had a great night eating in a japanese restaurant, we ended up in a karaoke.
Esta va a ser la ultima vez que escribimos, nuestro viaje por asia esta apunto de acabar, maniana yo cogo un vuelo de vuelta a Madrid y en algo mas de una semana Markus vuelve a Suecia.
El primer dia en Pekin no hicimos demasiado, fuimos a visitar La Torre de los tambores, La Torre de la Campana y las casetas tipicas de Peking.
El 10 de Junio fuimos a visitar el Palacio de Verano, El emperador Qianlong con la ayuda de 100.000 trabajadores excavo el lago de Kunming.
El Gran Corredor es una elegante pasillo echo de madera de 750 metros de largo donde hay mas de 8000 pinturas diferentes.
El barco de marmol representa la Dinastia Qing.
Ayer, 12 de Junio, fuimos a visitar La Gran Muralla, se dice que por cada metro de la Gran Muralla ha muerto un trabajador, la Gran Muralla tiene mas de 5000km, haz la cuenta, puedes elegir diferentes partes de la muralla para visitar, dependiendo de lo que quieras ver y a cuantos turistas te quieras encontrar, nosotros elegimos Simatai donde la muralla no ha sido restaurada y no hay demasiada gente, esta a 110 km de Peking, cogimos un autobus de linea hasta la ciudad mas cercana Miyun y alli cogimos un taxi hasta la Muralla, el taxista nos espero durante 4 horas alli.
Esta parte de la muralla fue construida por el Emperador Hongwu de la dinastia Ming, son 19 km de torres de vigia, atalayas y reliquias. Cogimos un teleferico y un pequenio tren para subir, andamos por la Muralla durante 3 horas y bajamos andando por la Muralla.
Por la noche fuimos a comer dumplings.
Hoy fue nuestro ultimo dia como turistas, visitamos el Templo del Cielo y la Ciudad Prohibida. El Templo del Cielo se ha convertido en un simbolo de Peking, se encuentra en un parque de 267 hectareas, originalmente servia para celemorias solemnes realizadas por el Hijo del Cielo, El Altar Redondo y La Bobeda del Cielo fueron construidos en 1530, alrededor del la Bobeda del Cielo se encuentra la Muralla del eco.
La ciudad prohibida fue llamada asi porque estubo fuera de los limities de el pueblo durante 500 anios. Es el mas largo y mejor conservado reciento de arquitectura antigua de China. Este sitio es enorme pero menos mal que estaba con nosotros Lars que nos pudo explicar los secretos del sitio.
Despues de recorrer la Ciudad Prohibida durante unas horas decidimos quedar con Eskil y unos amigos suyos para cenar, cenamos en un restaurante japones donde lo pasamos muy bien, acabamos la noche en un karaoke.

After a night train of 15 hours we arrived to Xi'an early in the morning, the same morning we arranged a day trip to go and see the Terracota Army, that was AMAZING! even if some parts is still under excavation it's awsome to see this. The Emperor Qin Shi Huang was terrified of the vanquished spirits awaiting him in the afterlife, or, as most archaeologists believe, he expected his rule to continue in death as it had in life he had done in 200 BC a whole army of pottery warriors. It was discoveried by a farmer in 1974. It can be visit the three different pits, the Pit number 1 it's the biggest with over 6000 warriors and horses, just show 1000, Pit number 2 containing around 1300 warriors and horses and the Pit number 3 is the smarllest containing 72 warriors and horses. Over the years the site became so famous that many of its unusual attributes are now well known, in particular the fact that no two soldier's faces are alike. We also visited some museums and tombs that it wasn't so interesting. We went to get a nice dinner in the muslim quarters.
Today 7th of June we went to an Old Mosque and tonight we will take the night train to Beijing.
Despues de un tren nocturno de 15 horas llegamos a Xi'an por la maniana temprano, esa misma maniana conseguimos una escursion de un dia al Ejercito de Terracota, increible! incluso sabiendo que la mayoria todavia sigue sin estar desenterrado es una pasada verlo.
La leyenda dice que el Emperador Qin Shi Huang estaba aterrorizado por los espiritus que le esperaban en la vida despues de la muerte, o, segun casi todos los arqueologos creen, el esperaba continuar governando una vez muerto igual que hizo en vida por eso mando hacer en el anio 200 antes de Cristo un ejercito entero de guerrero de ceramica que fueron enterrados con el para protegerle. Fue descubierto por un granjero en 1974. El recinto consiste en tres pavellones, se puede visitar los tres, el primero, el mas grande, con mas de 6000 guerreros y caballos, aunque solo exiven unos 1000, el pavellon numero 2 contiene unos 1300 guerreros y caballos y el pavellon numero 3, el mas pequenio, contiene 72 guerreros y caballos. Durante estos anios se ha hecho tan famoso este ejercito que cosas tan raras como que no hay ningun soldado que se le parecezca a otro ha llegado a ser algo que medio mundo sabe. Tambien visitamos unos museos y una tumba que no fue muy interesante. Por la noche fuimos a cenar a la zona arabe.

We arrived to Shanghai the 2nd of June after 22 hours on the train, the first thing we did was to meet Qin, Markus's friend from Madrid, a chinese man who were studing spanish last year in Spain.
Shanghai have enormous skyscrapers. The first afternoon we went to see the skyline at night time, amazing, and we also went for a walk in the shopping street.
Next day we went to the old town to eat a properly chinese meal, I also went in to a 400 years old garden, we had a great time, the only bad thing was that I got food poisoned and it was pretty hard to buy the medication because we are tourists, anyway, at night time we went up to the tallest building in China, the Jinmao Tower 430m high.
The next morning we visited Shanghai museum and we took the night train to Xi'an.
Llegamos a Shanghai el 2 de Junio despues de 22 horas de tren, lo primero que hicimos fue ver a Qin, un amigo de Markus de Madrid, es una chico chino que estubo estudiando espaniol el anio pasado en Espania.
Shanghai tiene unos rascacielos enormes. La primera tarde fuimos a ver los rascacielos de noche, increible, tambien dimos un paseo por la calle mas centrica para ir de compras.
Al dia siguiente fuimos a la zona vieja para comer comida china autentica, yo tambien disfrute de un paseo en un jardin que tenia unos 400 anios, nos lo pasamos muy bien lo unico malo fue que me dio una intoxicacion alimenticia y porque somos turistas nos costo mucho poder comprar la medicacion necesaria, bueno esa noche subimos al edificio mas alto de China, la torre Jinmao de 430m de altura.
Al dia siguiente fuimos al Museo de Shanghai y por la noche cogimos el tren a Xi'an.

Here is where we took a ride with the bikes, aqui es donde fuimos a dar el paseo con las bicis.
Guilin Yangshao
Once we arrived to Guilin we found out it wasn't so much to see in this city so we took a boat trip to the Li river for the next morning. During this trip we could see one of the most beautiful scenes we had ever seen, this place looks like Halong Bay in Vietnam but in a river and much more compact. The boat took us all the way to Yangshao, it took us 4 hours. Once we arrived there we rented a couple of bikes and we went for a ride to the countryside, really really nice the only bad thing is that I fell over the bike, of course. When we came back from this ride we went to a light show at night, really nice also, the next morning we came back to Guilin to take the train to Shanghai.
Una vez llegamos a Guilin nos dimos cuenta que no era un sitio donde ver demasiado asi que cogimos un bote por el rio Li a la maniana siguiente. Durante este viaje pudimos ver uno de los paisajes mas bonitos que jamas hemos visto, este sitio se parece a la Bahia de Halong en Vietnam pero en un rio y mucho mas compacto. El bote nos llevo hasta Yangshao, duro 4 horas. Una vez llegamos alli alquilamos un par de bicicletas y nos fuimos a dar una vuelta por el campo, fue una maravilla lo unico malo es que me cai, como no, cuando volvimos de nuestra vueltecita fuimos a un espectaculo de luces por la noche, tambien muy bonito, a la maniana siguiente volvimos a Guilin para coger un tren a Shanghai.
Una vez llegamos a Guilin nos dimos cuenta que no era un sitio donde ver demasiado asi que cogimos un bote por el rio Li a la maniana siguiente. The 26th of May we arrived to Dali, an old town at the bottom of some high mountains, the same morning we arrived we wanted to take a nice morning walk and we ended up at the top of one hill, after going up stairs for 2 hours, it was a pretty bad experience but once we were up there everything was worth it, the view was spectacular, we took a carcable to go back. That afternoon we decided to go by bus to Lijiang 5 hours away where we wanted to go trekking but because we didn't have so much time we couldn't do it. Instead we were in an amazing park where we took some of the most beautiful pictures so far. This night we took a bus back to Kunming, 10 hours, to take a train to our next stop, Guilin.
El dia 26 de Mayo llegamos a Dali, un viejo pueblo en la falda de unas montanias bastante altas, esa misma maniana decidimos ir a dar un paseo matutino y terminamos subiendo escaleras durante dos horas hasta lo alto de una colina, fue bastante sufrido pero una vez llegamos arriba todo parecio merecia la pena, bajamos en teleferico. Esa misma tarde decidimos ir en autobus a Lijiang a 5 horas de alli donde queriamos ir a hacer un sendero muy famoso, El valle del salto del tigre, pero por falta de tiempo no pudimos hacerlo. En vez de esto fuimos a un parque donde sacamos una de las fotos mas bonitas del viaje. Esa misma noche cogimos un autobus de vuelta a Kunming, 10 horas, para coger un tren a nuestro proximo destino, Guilin.
